Random Thought Of The Day 10-18-08
Will charges of racial discrimination be taken more or less seriously if Senator Obama is elected President?
Will charges of racial discrimination be taken more or less seriously if Senator Obama is elected President?
Honestly, this has already started happening. People are being accused of playing the “race card” and unfortunately it is only going to get worse. Racial discrimination has been an issue for years and years and people tend to try and down play the situation more often than not. I believe that with the potential for the U.S. to have a President who is a minority, discrimination is going to be more on the forefront of issues. Look at the people who aren’t going to cast their vote for Obama simply because he is black. What is going to happen if he gets elected, there is going to be a crack down and it won’t be pretty at all. I don’t think it is fair, but then I’m used to it, being what has been called a “double handicap”, being a woman and a minority…just another barrier that will have to be broken down.
Ky,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I’m really curious to see how this plays out. On one hand you would have to assume that a black president would work harder to address the issue. On the other hand, there will be plenty of people who will claim the fact that we can freely elect a black man to the highest office in the world is proof that discrimination is no longer an issue.
