The most absurd part of this ad was the assertion that Rosen was “hand picked” by Nelson Harris. As anyone knows, Rosen was chosen through the Democratic Firehouse Primary. If Harris is so powerful as to control the results of the primary, why did someone like Bev Fitzpatrick not also win the primary? Whoever is behind this add has no credibility. They can clearly disagree about the candidates but they showed such poor judgment in this add that any rational person is not going to listen to them in the future.

This ad is a new twist in Roanoke politics. Obviously someone believes Mr. Rosen’s potential seat on Council will have a pivotal impact on future votes.Unfortunately this tactic will not work in Roanoke. Citizens have had ample time to form opinions (especially this year with the firehouse primary) and a full page ad this late in the game appears desperate.Joe Smith? I don’t really care. Cowards hide behind pseudonyms.

A visitor from Richmond snorted that “Court Rosen is little more than a poor man’s King Tower.”“Who?” I asked.“A young attorney and - after Eric Cantor - the political future of Richmond !” …very well, Richmond can have that sort of thing (the $300 doorknobs sold on Cary Street, etc), but I think it speaks volumes that Rosen - an apparently talented individual (business, politics and what.not) - has chosen to live in our community. So he’s being “accused” of having only lived here for 3 years? I say *good* … maybe he can avoid the petty bickering of those who seek higher office on account they have some ax to grind.
